Laos
  • Visa must be obtained in advance - we got ours from Kunming in China. 15 or 30 days available.
  • not too bothered by documentation - customs didn't know what a Carnet was!
Thailand
  • No visa required for 3 month visit, stamp at border. If you want to stay longer, you have to leave the country and come back in.
  • Thailand not on Carnet system, but they filled it in anyway.
  • Customs issue a 30 day 'Temporary Import Docket' for your car - large fine if exceeded.

Malaysia
  • No visa required for 60 day visit, stamp at border
